After a week working with people at The Point in October, Bunkum Ensemble are continuing the development of HONEY FUNGUS with three days of Open rehearsal (Research and Development) this February and they want to meet you.

The show will be about nature, connection, relationships and a huge fungus that lives underneath our feet. The company still have a lot to discover about the show and are inviting people to come and attend these Open rehearsals to watch and contribute to the emerging show.

At these sessions you’ll get the chance to watch the company's performers and musicians work together, offer your feedback, contribute to the making process with some creative activities. For those that feel like it, there will be a chance every session to get involved on the stage. There is no requirement to do this though and you are welcome to just come and watch.

Previous workshop participants have said:

“A joyful collaborative of creative minds sharing in playful ideas. Building towards a marvellous, mystical, magical adventure.”
“It was low pressure and felt like anyone could contribute.”
“A really special treat and to be part of the early creative process, especially to have live musicians, was fantastic.”
“Regardless of your previous theatrical experience everyone was made to feel a valued part of the project.”

What will be happening?

Our performances are made through improvisation between musicians and physical performers, so there will be a lot of music and movement. The show will be a non-verbal piece of storytelling, so we will be exploring how we can tell a story with just physical actions and music.

If you are interested devising theatre, physical theatre, directing or seeing how a piece of theatre is made and developed, this is a great opportunity to come and watch us work. You will also be helping us steer the show creatively into it’s next phase of development.

Sessions will run 1-5pm and 6-10pm. Participants don't have to attend the whole session. At these sessions you are free to drop in and out when you like. People can arrive at any time between 1-5pm and 6-10pm and stay for as much or as little as they want.
