The Astonishing Adventures of Kitty and Peg
Writer-performer team, Trott and Jennings present The Astonishing Adventures of Kitty and Peg, a rollicking farce.
Step back in time to 1745, backstage at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. This hilarious period two-hander brings to life the real stars of the era: English sensation Kitty Clive, famed for her powerful voice and being the first to sing “Rule Britannia,” and Irish firecracker Peg Woffington, known for her daring male roles and alluring legs. When these iconic actresses are abruptly sacked, they must rely on more than just their talents to remain in the public eye.
Their desperate antics include spreading fake news, staging a dramatic brawl, and unintentionally poisoning the famous cross-dressing puppeteer-turned-butcher, Charlotte “Mr Brown” Charke. Will Kitty and Peg reclaim their jobs, face the gallows, or will the public’s fascination with True Crime secure their fame?
If you like fast paced comedies like Upstart Crow, Austentatious, or the Play That Goes Wrong, and want a good night out, this show is for you.
Don’t miss this fast-paced, irreverent, and cheeky romp filled with mischief and mayhem – and, there’s women wrestling!
